The story

John Badby was a tailor from Evesham. He told the Bishop of Worcester that if every host on every altar were the Lord's body there would be twenty thousand gods in England.

At Smithfield in March 1410 he was chained inside an open barrel. The Prince of Wales, the future Henry V, had the fire pulled back and offered him his life and a pension. He refused, and the fire was lit again.

The barrel and the prince on the shirt come from the chronicle and from a 1563 woodcut. Read the full story.
